ABOUT US

In 2009, the Knights of Columbus Council 6506 began to look for new and exciting fundraising activities. A member of the council (Jack Dwyer) brought up the idea of hosting a trivia night. He knew how several Catholic Parishes in St. Louis were thriving with this event, so why couldn't St. John LaLande? And so it came to be.
Jack Dwyer needed someone to Coordinate the event, so he along with the Grand Knight chose Mark Schollmeyer. Schollmeyer not only had the project management skills to run this typle of event, but the voice for the microphone as the lead emcee.
The first Trivia Night was held at St. John LaLande Catholic Church in January 2010 in the Parish Center. We sold over 20 tables of 8 people each. From each Trivia Night, we've made modifications to serve the participants and each event has out-done the previous one.
Due to the dedication of the Knights of Columbus Council 6506 and the men and women of the Trivia Knight team at St. John LaLande Catholic Parish, this event outgrew the Parish Center. On Saturday - January 13, 2013, the event was moved to the School Gymnasium, where the table count reached 30.
In 2018, The St. John LaLande Trivia Night reached the maximum capacity of 35 tables with a new floor plan layout and offered a variety of BBQ smoked meats at the event.
In 2019, St. John LaLande celebrated 10 years of Trivia Night. Key members such as Jim and Linda Pedersen and Jim Panus were presented with MVP Awards and Jack Dwyer received the Founder's Award.
Sadly, the annual St. John LaLande Trivia Night was cancelled for January 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, our Trivia Night came back as the event had to be moved from January to April.
Today, the St. John LaLande Trivia Night is one of the most popular and well known Trivia Night events in the Eastern Jackson County area.
